Arthur William Steinman
("Art")

Arthur William Steinman (“Art”) of DeLeon Springs was a native Floridian and a
Navy veteran.  He moved to Volusia County in the early 1970’s and established
Arthur W Steinman & Associates Land Surveying.  He was a founding member
of the Volusia County Chapter of the Florida Society of Professional
Land Surveyors, and was the President in 1974.

Art attended the University of Florida and was an avid fan of the Florida Gators.
He enjoyed boating on the St. Johns River, off-shore and inland fishing,
motorcycle riding in the Blue Ridge mountains, and in his younger years he
enjoyed dirt-track racing, had two pull trucks, and competed in truck pulls.
He also liked following NASCAR and was a long time member of the
Lake Beresford Yacht Club.

In 1994 Art was nearly killed in a motorcycle accident.  He miraculously survived,
but the accident was life changing.  As he fought his way back to good
health he adopted the motto of “POR” -- Press On Regardless.
He lived with that attitude for the rest of his life.

Art was brilliant, naturally artistic, and inherently fair and kind.  He was a whiz
on the computer and loved to read.  He avidly followed current politics
and would often share his political viewpoints in editorials in both the
Daytona Beach News Journal and the Orlando Sentinel.  He also
liked crossword puzzles and did the New York Times crossword every week,
creating his own personal New York Times Crossword Puzzle Dictionary.

He was married four times, and shared lifelong friendships with ex-wives
Carole Steinman and Brandon Dane Heatherstone.

Art passed away on April 9th at the age of 76.  His daughter, Gigha,
and Brandon were by his side.  He is survived by his children Beth
Barnette, Cathy Patterson, John Steinman, Gigha Steinman,
Heather Steinman, Reed Steinman, 7 grandchildren,
and his brother Ralph Steinman.

A memorial celebration is planned for Saturday, April 21st.
In keeping with what Art would have liked, the memorial is being held
on the river.  Casual dress -- Gator colors if you like!

In lieu of flowers, do something fun with a friend or loved one,
and maybe raise a glass to Art.  He would have liked that!

And if life throws you a curve ball, remember to POR!
